Head of Development - CoC Semi Automation - India
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as the Head of Development for CoC Semi Automation based in India. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing and guiding the development efforts within our semi-automation projects in the Chain of Custody (CoC) domain, driving innovation, quality, and efficiency while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
About the Role
As the Head of Development, you will lead, mentor, and manage the development team, ensuring that all semi-automation initiatives meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. You will be instrumental in shaping technical strategies, managing project lifecycles, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and continuous improvement. This role requires a keen understanding of automation technologies, software development best practices, and stakeholder engagement across business and technical units.
Key Responsibilities
Main Tasks
- Establish and build up the development organization in Gurgaon from the ground up in close collaboration with the Head of R&D in Switzerland
- Define and implement the local development strategy aligned with the global product and technology roadmap
- Lead and manage localization and development projects, acting as project manager and technical authority as required
- Drive the development of new machines and the further development of existing products
- Ensure technology transfer into production and a smooth transition from development to series production
Additional Tasks

- Provide technical and disciplinary leadership of the development team (mechanical design, electronics, documentation)
- Introduce and maintain modern development standards, tools, and quality assurance processes
- Identify and manage technical risks within development projects
- Foster innovation, efficiency, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Act as the primary technical interface to Thun (THU) and global stakeholders
Qualifications and Experience

Education & Technical Background
- University degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering); Master’s level
- Strong technical understanding of machine development for global market, product engineering, and industrial manufacturing processes
- Solid knowledge of international product compliance and certification requirements, including CE (Machinery Directive) and UL standards, with experience applying them in machine development projects
Experience
- Several years of experience leading development or industrialization projects from concept to series production
- Hands‑on mindset with the willingness to actively contribute as project manager and technical expert, especially during the build‑up phase
- Experience in close collaboration with production and in technology transfer from development to serial manufacturing
- Understand
Leadership & Collaboration
- Proven initial leadership experience (technical and/or disciplinary)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in an international environment
